I cannot name the ways that I love this series. It is an amazing plot, when I first picked up the first book, I did NOT think I would enjoy it, let alone love it.
You get a nice mix of vampires, royalty, and tough girls and guys. The plot is an incredible thing that weaves seamlessly througout the series.
The vampires in these series are Moroi royalty, whether they be princesses princes or kings and queens, they're the top of the top. You then have their protectors which is the point of view the books are written from called the Dhampir, they give their lives to protect those in which they protect.
No story is complete without a bad guy, and in this series they're not as Strigoi, they're the nasty, icky, more typical version of a vampire. Think Dracula and you're nearly dead on, except the Strigoi at one point were Moroi.
This series has 3 books, with it's 4th being released August 25th.
The books go in this order:
Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead
Frostbite by Richelle Mead
Shadow Kiss by Richelle Mead
The one that is soon to be released is:
Blood Promise by Richelle Mead

The Immortals Series by Alyson Noel
A very interesting idea, people being immortal without having to suck down blood, which I am sure those of you out there who get queasy thinking of blood will appreciate.
The main character Ever's family is lost in a tragic accident, where she too is killed, but comes back from, after her return she begins to be able to see people's auras, hear their thoughts, and just by touching them get their entire life story. It's a fun read, but definately not deep intellectual reading. If you just want something to read, pick it up, if you're looking for something with some depth, this is not it.
This book is teen friendly, if you're okay with minimal sexuality.
I am currently reading the second book in this series called Blue Moon, the first book is Evermore.

Dead End Dating Series
What's not to love when it comes down to a series of books with the main character being a vampire who opens her own dating service.
Kimberly Raye scores in these books, creating a fun witty story with just the right amount of adventure. Lil Marchette the main character is a fun vamp, who has a major obsession with all that is designer.
Lil's character opens a business by the name of Dead End Dating, setting out to match up vampires, who haven't found their eternity mate. She always finds a way to set these poor vamps up, even if it happens to be with someone's elderly uncle.
These books are NOT for children, as "born vampires" are not matched just by love, but by the number of hmm how shall I phrase this, uhhh, joyful moments during love making, and a fertility rating on the guy half. Love is not so important to the born vamps, making baby vamps is the priority.

Generation Dead by Daniel Waters
An interesting take on zombies, that's for sure.
If you can imagine a world where dead teenagers are coming back, then these books are more than destined to find their way to your hands.
Pheobe is a good natured goth girl, who just happens to have a sympathy for the "differently biotic", also known as the "living impaired". Unfortunately at the point in society where these books take place, the living dead have NO rights whatsoever, they can be killed, er well burned, as a means of getting rid of them. They have no rights of citizenship, they can't get driver's licences, they can't vote, they techincally do not exist in the eyes of the United States government. It's a sad place to be for those who are just slightly different.
It has a great dry humor quality about it, I couldn't put it down for the first few hours, and only then I forced myself to take a break. I may be slightly biased though, I do enjoy a good zombie moment every now and again.
All and all I would recommend that most people should read this, particularly those with a taste for paranormal books. This book is NOT for young people, there is a pretty decent amount of vulgarity, and several mentions to sexuality.

Sookie Stackhouse/Southern Vampires Series
I do enjoy these books very very much. Sookie is an incredibly lovable character, with a lot of things most women can relate to. There are many things that most cannot relate to, such as reading minds, and falling in love with a vampire, although I am sure many of us have fallen in love with a few in books.
The plot is an interesting one, vampires coming out so to speak, vampire being able to survive on a synthetic blood called True Blood, and Sookie being stuck in the middle of all of it. There are groups that are against vampires, similar to what the gays are going through today.
There are very few flaws to this story, nothing really worth mentioning here. I would NOT recommend these books for anyone other than adults, there is a lot of sexuality, violence, and all the bloodsucking any vamp fan could dream of.

The Percy Jackson and the Olympians Series
I am proud to say that I have finished the entire series in record time, enjoying every moment of it.
These books give off a Harry Potter type feel, with magic and adventures on every page. This series will grab you and not let you go until you have finished them. It's a good clean read, with only small amounts of violence, and next to no sexuality that I would recommend for preteen boys and girls.
As an adult I was impressed by the skill of the author Rick Riordan, very few people have the talent to craft a story with the excitement and fun that he has managed to create.
The books center around Greek mythology something I knew absolutely nothing about until I read them, I now know more than I thought possible from reading a series, it's a fun way to become educated on a topic that is so rarely covered in depth these days.
I will now give the description as listed by www.borders.com to the first book, Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief.
Percy Jackson is a good kid, but he can't seem to focus on his schoolwork or control his temper. And lately, being away at boarding school is only getting worse -- Percy could have sworn his pre-algebra teacher turned into a monster and tried to kill him. When Percy's mom finds out, she knows it's time that he knew the truth about where he came from, and that he go to the one place he'll be safe. She sends Percy to Camp Half Blood, a summer camp for demigods (on Long Island), where he learns that the father he never knew is Poseidon, God of the Sea. Soon a mystery unfolds and together with his friends -- one a satyr and the other the demigod daughter of Athena -- Percy sets out on a quest across the United States to reach the gates of the Underworld (located in a recording studio in Hollywood) and prevent a catastrophic war between the gods.
